The gang makes a podcast!
Come take a lovely journey to our friends at Paddy’s Pub, you know, the hottest gay bar in town! We take you back to the long forgotten time of 2005. A young Rob McElhenney, started shooting a low budget pilot with actor friends Glenn Howerton, Charlie Day, and Kaitlin Olson. The group we’ve come to know and love all these years was born. All the milksteaks, the green men, the Chase Utleys merely a glimmer in their eyes.
Come join us on this trip down memory lane and see how a comedy Juggernaut came to be.

We have a saying here on the island: “leave us a 5-star review!”
Aloha friends! This week we’re taking you to the island of O’ahu for some prime-time soap TV to compliment the Fox smash hit The OC. Does it work? Well… try finding the pilot anywhere other than YouTube and let us know what you think.
Jason Matthews (Kristoffer Polaha) runs the Grand Waimea Hotel and Resort in this prime-time soap. Arriving to shake things up is his ex, Nicole Booth (Brooke Burns), who takes a job as the resort's director of guest relations. Resort owner Vincent Colville (James Remar) keeps an eye on his employees (Jason Momoa and Amanda Righetti) to make sure their past history doesn't affect their work.
We have another saying here on the island… listen to our podcast!

Okay… did we know this show had a great reputation? Sure. Did we know that this show was originally created by Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance? Definitely. Did we forget to tell Max that there was a talking monkey in it? I’m afraid so.
Obviously we’re talking about the Netflix Original series The Umbrella Academy!
Starring Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castaneda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, and Aidan Gallagher as kids born under extremely mysterious circumstances who developed super powers as they aged. Upon the death of their eccentric billionaire adopted father, they now must return to the house that raised them and get along without killing each other.
Join us as The Umbrella Academy saves the world.

IT’S OLYMPIC (errr) BIG GAME FEVER Y’ALL! While you watch our ladies and gents pommel some horses and uneven some bars, let’s half tuck in to the ABC family show Make It Or Break It!
Inspired by the 2006 movie Stick It, MIOBI is the brainchild of showrunner Holly Sorensen who wanted to make a drama centering around “The Rock” training center in Colorado. The show features actors Josie Loren, Ayla Kell, and Cassie Scerbo as the big three gymnasts setting their sights on the gold medal, while newcomer Emily Kmetko represents an unforeseen threat to those dreams. Can they gel as a team or will it tear them apart?
We also get a television return of former TVPL champion Peri Gilpin (Frasier). Now that you’ve seen the pilot, will this show make it or break it?

This long-lasting cameo-loaded HBO original series is the brainchild of star Robert Wuhl who you’ll recognize from Tim Burton’s Batman and Bull Durham. After a horrendous and “total bullshit” book he read by a future president he was inspired to write a series using the made up stories but swapping in the world of sports management.
Come join us in our quest to name every sports star of the 90s and pick apart a fascinating 1996 time capsule.

Nathan For Me? Why you shouldn’t have. That’s right, this week we are taking you to the beautiful fictional town of “Los Angeles” where our hero Nathan Fielder (played by the incomparable Nathan Fielder) will take his expert business knowledge from “Canada” and turn these local entrepreneurs to nationwide success.
We see the humble beginnings of Fielder’s explosion into the comedy conversation. Of course becoming the creator of HBO’s The Rehearsal and The Curse (with Emma Stone and Benny Safdie). Starting from a short series on the CBC, Nathan For You became a viral hit on Comedy Central with stunts like Dumb Starbucks and Poop flavored Yogurt.

It’s One Tree Hill! With such themes as basketball, questionable parenting and no others. At least for the pilot!
The Scott boys are at it again, stealing school busses, reading poetry, shooting hoops, and shitting on their awful dad.
This CW staple brought a new crop of teen heartthrobs James Lafferty, Chad Michael Murray, Hilarie Burton, and Sophia Bush. And throw away your iPod nano, this sound track is all you need baby! With needle drops from T.I., Dashboard Confessional, N.E.R.D, and Jet you’ve got a teenage obsession on your hands.

We’re 3 nerdy dudes who got one pod, we love TV and don’t shut up with a Yeti mic and a Riverside Subscription
It’s REBA! Starring SNL vet Kenan Thompson (aka Reba McEntire), this show originally started under a different name and premise all together, but became the southern living sitcom to end all southern living sitcoms.
With a pilot cast boosted heavily by an appearance from Nell Carter, Reba became a syndication darling and it’s easy to see why. So come grab some ersters on a half shell and get the camera ready for a shotgun wedding, It’s Reba!

Hold on to your bellybuttons, it’s KYLE XY! Fresh from the gooey forest floor to your living rooms, he’s a deeply confusing teen heartthrob savant!
From show runners Eric Bress and J. Mackye Gruber (Final Destination and The Butterfly Effect) this is ABC Family’s paranormal teen drama with all the action of Seventh Heaven if they all pissed their pants in the first 10 minutes.
Starring Matt Dallas, Marguerite MacIntyre, Bruce Thomas, April Matson and Jean-Luc Bilodeau, this Pacific Northwest family will never be the same!
So is he an alien? An Amnesia-riddled runaway? Time to find out!

What do three guys who went to college in the midwest know about Dairy? An awful lot. Derry? Well that’s a new one.
This week the guys do Derry Girls! The BBC4 coming-of-age comedy taking place in embattled Northern Ireland. From show runner Lisa McGee comes a smattering of her own high school stories and memories with sharp, hilarious writing. We follow a 16 year old Erin (Saoirse-Monica Jackson), her cousin Orla (Louisa Harland), and best friends Clare and Michelle (Nicola Coughlan and Jamie-Lee O’Donnell) in the 1990’s as the Troubles raged but neared their end.
The show found a global audience after Netflix grabbed the rights and the rest is history. Join us this week for a truly terrific high school comedy.

Give us some more, time in a dream, give us a pod, that we can stream. It’s time to go back to school! It’s NBC’s weirdo tentpole comedy, Community!
While you can probably take a wild guess that Max, Geoff, and Rich are all big fans and that they will just gush over this show. There are a lot of things to unpack. With tremendous cast and writing comes a complicated legacy and bizarre network choices that make this show rise to peak fandom on uncertain ground. While it’s easy to look back on this truly A++ cast and say “duh of course this is a hit” this show took a lot of chances and was the launching pad of some massive careers. Donald Glover, Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie, Joel McHale, John Oliver, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Audi, Jim Rash, Dan Harmon, and Chevy Chase… hard to imagine all those big names together at once now.
The guys talk exposition excellence, casting choices, bottle episodes, and more, so make sure to find la biblioteca and join our study group on Community.

Hold your horses, it’s time to trot on over to HBO for the pilot of LUCK! The ironic named show that was pulled after several animal rights violations. Take a terrific cast, heavy hitting executive and writing team, and gorgeous cinematography and remove those expectations.
It’s Dustin Hoffman, Dennis Farina, Nick Nolte, Richard Kind and so much more. From the team that brought you NYPD Blue, Deadwood and the pinnacle of television John From Cincinnati.
Join us on the backstretch for this wild ride of a pilot.
